Tropical Storm Fernand develops in the western Gulf

UPDATE 9/3/19

New tropical storm Fernand has developed in the western Gulf of Mexico and has maximum sustained wind of 40 mph with gusts to 45 mph. Fernand is located 160 miles east of La Pesca, Mexico. It is moving to the west at 7 mph and should turn to the northwest in the next day or so. Fernand is expected to make landfall along the northeast Mexican coast.

A new tropical depression has formed in the Gulf about 200 mi east of Tampico MX. This storm could develop into Tropical Storm Fernand soon. Tropical Storm Warnings are now up for parts of the nothern Mexican Coast just south of Brownsville TX. Landfall is expected Wednesday evening.
