FORT MYERS, Fla. -- With many still without power 10 days after Hurricane Irma wreaked havoc on Florida, a lack of clean laundry could be an issue.  But those in Fort Myers are getting help on that front.

It was announced Wednesday that on Thursday, September 21, Fort Myers citizens will be able to wash and dry up to three loads of laundry free of charge from noon until 8:00 p.m. at two K&M Wash House locations in Fort Myers.

Residents are strongly encouraged to pre-register via phone Thursday morning between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Pre-registrants can call 239-321-7445 to reserve a time slot and avoid lines.

The two K & M Wash House laundromats are located at 2829 S. Cleveland Ave. and 2451 Hanson St.

UPDATE:  Citizens will be able to wash and dry up to three loads of laundry free of charge thursday only from noon until 4:00 p.m. at the WashHouse located at 691 Van Buren Street in Fort Myers.  Last wash will begin at 3:30. Preregistration is not available for this location.

Residents must bring their own laundry care products (detergent, dryer sheets, etc.), and are asked not to arrive before 11:30 a.m. The last wash will begin at 7:00 p.m. Residents needing special assistance should contact the city via the pre-registration phone number: 239-321-7445.
