LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Drivers needing assistance on Southwest Florida roads will be on their own until Hurricane Irma passes.
Florida Highway Patrol says that as of 11:30am Sunday, troopers in Charlotte, Hendry, Glades and Lee counties began coming off of the road to seek shelter due to deteriorating conditions and high wind gusts.
Troopers in Collier County came off the roads earlier Sunday.
They strongly advise the public to stay sheltered and stay safe. Conditions will continue to worsen as storm approaches, making traveling on roadways extremely dangerous.
Many traffic signals are out, debris in roads and there are no fuel stations open in this area so PLEASE use common sense, stay sheltered and safe.
