Lee Co. hospitals are not hurricane shelters

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — The Lee County Sheriff's Office is advising the public that hospitals are not serving as hurricane shelters.

In a press release, the sheriff's office said that Lee Health has received numerous appeals for shelter during the storm but hospitals are not designated hurricane shelters.

As of Sunday afternoon, there were three shelters in Lee County currently open.

  • Harns Marsh Elementary School, 1800 Unice Ave N, Lehigh Acres
  • Mirror Lakes Elementary School, 525 Charwood Ave. South, Lehigh Acres
  • Veterans Park Recreation Center, 55 Homestead Road S., Lehigh Acres
