Lee County Emergency Management update for Thursday

Lee County Emergency Management update
Posted

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Emergency officials have issued the latest updates on road closures, electrical safety, and trash collection related to Hurricane Irma cleanup.

Lee County Emergency Management reminds residents to avoid placing electric extension cords across roadways. The cords prevent solid waste workers, utility crews and first responders from completing their work and present an electrical hazard.

Haulers under contract to Lee County Solid Waste and area municipalities will never request payment from residents for picking up residential trash, hurricane debris or other waste.

Residents are asked to begin placing hurricane debris at the curb to be collected by haulers. For more information about the right way to organize your debris, see here:

Due to power outages, lift stations used to convey sewage to wastewater treatment plants will not work or will have only limited operations. Remember even though power has been restored to your home, it does not mean that power has been restored to all lift stations within your neighborhood.  Normal operations will resume as power is restored.
