Lee County Emergency Management said it plans to operate four storm shelters Monday night.

That's a drop from the 14 shelters the county ran during Hurricane Irma. Only two of those 14 will remain open Monday. The other two are new locations.

The four shelters are:

  • Germain Arena, 11000 Everblades Parkway, Estero
  • Alico Arena, Florida Gulf Coast University campus
  • North Fort Myers Rec Center (new), 2000 N. Recreation Way, North Fort Myers
  • Dunbar Middle School (new), 4750 Winkler Ave. Extension, Fort Myers

The remaining 12 shelters that were open previously will close tonight, according to the county. Monday's four shelters will start taking evacuees at 6 p.m.

The county said LeeTran will provide transportation for people who cannot relocate from one of the existing shelters to one of the new ones.

The county said all of its shelters are pet-friendly, and asks pet owners to bring a crate or leash for their animals.
