MIAMI, Fla.-- Miami police officers and firefighters are evacuating residents who live near a crane that collapsed in Hurricane Irma.
A city of Miami news release says evacuations were ordered August 12th, for two buildings across the street from the Gran Paraiso construction site north of downtown. The top of the crane was damaged during Hurricane Irma but did not fall to the ground. Officials say it hasn't been secured since the storm.
Plaza Construction, the general contractor, has been notified that there are available hotel rooms in the areas for evacuees.
