There are no open local FEMA voucher approved hotels in Southwest Florida after Hurricane Irma. Baymont Inn would be the only local FEMA voucher approved hotel in Southwest Florida but is closed for repairs.
FEMA is encouraging additional hotels to participate in providing lodging for those in need.
"In addition to that we have rental assistance that you can receive under FEMA where you don't have to go through the transitional assistance program," said Cheria Brown of FEMA Media Relations.
If hotels in the Fort Myers area would like to aid the emergency housing program, they can call FEMA at 1-866-545-9865.
