Posted

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA -- Students in coastal counties of Southwest Florida will not be getting a hurricane day off Friday, but further inland they will.

Schools in DeSoto, Hendry and Glades counties will be closed Friday, due to Hurricane Matthew.

All Lee County public schools and offices will be open Friday, and all extracurricular activities on Friday will continue as planned.

Collier County public schools will also remain open Friday pending any major changes in the storm’s path.  All extracurricular activities planned for Friday will continue as planned.

Charlotte County schools will be open as well.

Parents would be notified via phone calls, text messages, email, APP alerts, Facebook, and Twitter to notify parents should the situation change.

As for our local universities and colleges, classes are cancelled for Florida Gulf Coast University. FSW campuses in Glades and Hendry county also remain closed through Friday. But FSW campuses in Lee, Charlotte and Collier counties will remain open.
