CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- A major north-south route through rural Charlotte County is closed in two sections due to flooding from Hurricane Irma.
The first section of State Road 31 is closed from the Lee/Charlotte county line north to C.R. 74/Bermont Road, outside of Punta Gorda.
Drivers traveling between North Fort Myers and Arcadia should seek an alternate route.
Further north on S.R. 31, the road is closed at the DeSoto/Charlotte ocunty line north to C.R. 763/E. Farms Road.
Also in DeSoto County, S.R. 70 westbound has one lane closed at N. Orange Avenue due to erosion.
