The Sunshine Skyway Bridge is officially closed. Florida Highway Patrol troopers closed the bridge after sustained winds reached 40 miles an hour in the area.

Other bridges in the area could be closed during the storm as well. According to Scripps sister station ABC Action News, troopers will monitor the Bayside, Gandy, Howard Frankland, and Courtney Campbell bridges, but there is no wind threshold.

The last the time bridges were shut down for weather was during Tropical Storm Debby in 2012. The Skyway was closed for three days. The Howard Frankland was closed for eight hours. The Courtney Campbell was shut down, too.
