The coldest night of the season is expected tonight across SWFL as temps will dip into the 30s for many locations. The combination of very low humidity (dry air), clear skies, and light to calm winds will set up the ideal conditions for radiational cooling. Allowing temperatures to dip quickly after sunset. The coldest temps will occur across the typically colder areas of DeSoto, inland Charlotte, inland Lee, inland Collier, and western Glades & Hendry Co. along SR 29. The Frost Advisory is in effect from 4 to 8 AM Thursday.

Precautions need to be taken to protect cold-sensitive plants and crops from damage from the cold. Also make sure livestock and pets have warm shelter. Also ensure that the elderly have adequate heating overnight. Temperatures will rebound quickly back to near 70 Thursday afternoon and will remain warm into the weekend.
