The National Weather Service confirms an EF-1 tornado hit a section of Punta Gorda and Manasota Key Monday evening.

Tornado damage has been confirmed along Aspen Road in Punta Gorda.  Nobody was hurt, but there was property damage in the area.  Damage included several trees snapped above the base or uprooted, a pickup truck that was flipped over, a trailer lofted into a tree and an outbuilding that sustained moderate damage.

Additional damage was reported in Manasota Key, where the National Weather Service found a narrow path of damage consistent with a water spout moving onshore and crossing Manasota Key near De Soto Avenue.  A multi-family condo along the street sustained moderate roof damage, and another older home on the beach had a large section of the roof removed.

East of North Beach Rd, a few trees were snapped or uprooted.  And a two story home had a large section of shingles and siding removed.
